I imagine she’ll look exhausted, but more tender. I think she’d be in the middle of the refugee crisis, one way or another. Or in Gaza or the West Bank. Or who knows where?
It’s hardly surprising Mary looks so protective given the date. Are they walking to somewhere positive or away into a 1918 version of exile in Egypt? Have they lost Joseph, who usually appears on the flight into Egypt? What would 2018’s Madonna look like?
